I am a socially engaged practitioner living off-grid on the Kennet and Avon Canal aboard a 40 ft narrowboat. My itinerant lifestyle offers me the opportunity to connect to the landscape and transient communities.
Moving along the rivers and canals of the UK’s waterway system I create photographic art to engage with a changing audience. My creative practice focuses on lived experience and the environment, exploring memory, well-being, grief and unravelling the legacy of trauma.
Currently I am developing a series of self-portraits grounded in the present but entwined with the tangled roots of my past. The purpose is to encourage conversations and compassion for those recovering from loss. Through connecting with nature my work aims to encourage therapeutic healing using interdisciplinary photographic and moving-image processes.
The seasonal unpredictability of nature influences my spontaneity and creativity. My focus on a sustainable practice parallels my lifestyle and in dealing with issues related to women’s experience in these strange times.
